Frequently Asked Questions

Does Aguila Ammunition sell ammunition directly to the public?

Aguila Ammunition sells to dealers, distributors, big box stores, military, law enforcement and select ranges throughout the continental US and Canada.  However, we do not sell our products directly to the consumer.  If your local dealer or distributor is running low on Aguila inventory, please inform them that they need to reorder and we’ll be sure to fulfill the request.

Where can I find a dealer for Aguila Ammunition products?

Aguila has dealers and distributors all over the United States and Canada.  Please refer to the “Dealer Locator” section of this website to identify the closest Aguila Direct Dealer to you.  There may also be additional dealers in your region, serviced by our distribution network.

Are you still manufacturing 5mm ammunition?

Yes, Aguila still manufactures this very popular 5mm ammunition. However, due to increased .22 rimfire demand, shipments to dealers and distributors have been pushed back to 2017.

What is a dram equivalent?

The dram equivalent is the amount of powder in the cartridge.  A dram is 1/16th of an ounce.  Back when shotgun ammunition was loaded with black powder, the dram was the unit of measure.  Today, this is the term used to indicate the charge of smokeless powder that approximates the velocity and shot weight of a black powder load.

How do I properly dispose of ammunition?

Contact your local hazmat facility.  Each state, county or city may have different regulations for proper disposal.

Is Aguila +P ammunition safe to use in my handgun?

Aguila +P ammunition is manufactured to industry +P standards and is safe to use in any firearm that is regulated to +P pressures.

Will your Aguila “Mini-shell” perform in semi-automatic shotguns?

The mini-shell product works best in pump-action systems and may work in some semi-automatic shotguns with modified feed systems.

What is the advantage of using your Colibri or your Super Colibri, powder-less ammunition?

Both the .22 Colibri and Super Colibri are excellent ammunition for firing in areas where noise is a factor.  Both are “powder-less” rounds and extremely quite.  This is especially beneficial for taking out varmints within residential neighborhoods or areas where there are noise restrictions.
