Sal Hernandez

I grew up in a very competitive family, and being the oldest made me set an example for my two younger sisters. I spent the majority of my life playing Baseball and Hockey. In high school and college, I played Baseball at a high level, and it gave me the opportunity to travel throughout the US. Once I finished, I applied to several Police Departments in Texas. And just a few months after college, I began my professional career as a Law Enforcement Officer.

I have been a Police Officer for 11 years at a large agency in Texas. The last six years have been spent on the SWAT team, where I am a sniper and on the firearms cadre. In addition, I am on the SWAT competition team, where we compete in the Texas Tactical Police Officers Association (TTPOA) and Florida SWAT Round Up International SWAT competitions.

I found my love for competition shooting while competing in SWAT competitions. I was introduced to The Tactical Games at a SWAT competition in 2018. Since then, I have competed in 17 Tactical Games in the Men's Elite division. I have podiumed 14 times, and taken in 2020/2022 placed 3rd at nationals. My wife is an 8x Tactical Games competitor, and we share several hours on the range (and in our garage training.)

I am passionate about helping new shooters and plan to continue growing the sport by training new competitors. In addition, I will be teaching several LE courses throughout 2023.
